Changing Lives Together tops $106 million as campaign continues

Tens of thousands of Catholic households throughout metro Detroit have now pledged more than $106 million to the Changing Lives Together capital stewardship initiative. On July 31, Father William Tindall and parishioners at St. Michael the Archangel in Livonia hosted Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron, Bishop Donald Hanchon, Bishop Francis Reiss, and many others to an evening prayer event in thanks for the success of Changing Lives Together. St. Michael was the first of more than 250 parishes to conduct the changing lives together campaign, and the first to use campaign funds for parish improvements.

Changing Lives Together Pilgrimage September 7

A day-long tour of prominent and historic Catholic churches and metro Detroit is set for Saturday, September 7. The journey will begin at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Plymouth with a greeting, blessing, and tour of the Lourdes Grotto on the parish grounds by Rev. John Riccardo and an opportunity to venerate relics of St. Anne, patroness of the Detroit Archdiocese.

Pastor wraps pro-life effort, parishioner home visits, and 200-mile pilgrimage into campaign success

The pastor of St. Malachy Parish in Sterling Heights decided last year that his parish volunteers were doing enough, and it would need to be his responsibility to conduct the parish Changing Lives Together campaign. Fr. Joseph Gembala consulted with parish leaders to determine parish priorities, then put use his 16 years of experience as pastor at St. Malachy to use by personally visiting about 600 parishioner homes to explain the campaign and ask for their support. St. Malachy parishioners have pledged more than $498,000 to the campaign, surpassing the archdiocesan target.
