Changing Lives Together Pilgrimage September 7

Visit the beautiful St. Florian Church, Hamtramck where in 1969, the Bishop of Kracow, Poland, Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, celebrated mass.

A day-long tour of prominent and historic Catholic churches and metro Detroit is set for Saturday, September 7. The journey will begin at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Plymouth with a greeting, blessing, and tour of the Lourdes Grottoon the parish grounds by Rev. John Riccardo and an opportunity to venerate relics of St. Anne, patroness of the Detroit Archdiocese.Pilgrims will then travel to the Shrine Chapel of Our Lady of Orchard Lake at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary for a hearty Polish luncheon and veneration of a relic of Blessed John Paul II – a piece of blood-stained clothing which he wore on May 13, 1981, the day of his attempted assassination. Our Lady of Good Counsel and the Shrine Chapel in Orchard Lake are designated By Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron as designated Year of Faith pilgrimage sites, through which a plenary indulgence may be obtained.

The pilgrimage will continue in Hamtramck with a guided tour of St. Florian Parish, followed by a visit to St. Joseph Parish in Detroit, where Archbishop Vigneron will celebrate Mass.Tickets for the September 7 pilgrimage are $75 each and include lunch, snacks, taxes, and tips. Buses will depart from Dearborn, Plymouth, and Warren.
