Archbishop Vigneron at a Changing Lives Together event at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Newport.

Dear Friends in Christ:

Please accept my deep appreciation for your generous support of the Changing Lives Together capital stewardship initiative. Your gift is strengthening your parish while providing additional support for tuition assistance at our Catholic schools, priestly formation and lay leadership development, and for the presence of the Church in the city of Detroit. You are among more than 55,000 Catholic households graciously committing over $80 million in gifts to Changing Lives Together. I am grateful to God and humbled by your trust and generosity.

While the majority of our parishes in southeast Michigan have completed or are now engaged in the fundraising phase of Changing Lives Together, it is our coming together as brothers and sisters in faith that is truly changing lives. Combined with our ongoing archdiocesan-wide Together in Faith pastoral planning effort, Changing Lives Together is a catalyst for the future of the local Church. Through Together in Faith, parish leaders are coordinating and sharing their resources to fulfill our shared mission priorities, including vocations, evangelization, Catholic schools, and Christian service. Changing Lives Together is helping to revitalize parish life by raising the funds to fulfill parish-identified projects. It is my intent to help stabilize parish finances, increase the involvement of our parishioners, and raise the needed funds so we can achieve our mission. Through Changing Lives Together, dozens of parishes have identified new volunteers, organized prayer teams, and conducted telephone outreach to welcome people back to Mass and the Church’s sacramental life.

This newsletter offers but a few highlights of what is being achieved through Changing Lives Together – achievements made possible by your generosity and involvement. It is my prayerful hope that you find this information remarkable considering the many economic and social challenges we have endured and through which we continue to navigate. Thank you for responding to the call of Changing Lives Together.

Entrusting you to the care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, I remain

Sincerely yours in Christ,

The Most Reverend Allen H. Vigneron
Archbishop of Detroit
